What religion is the Akashic Records?
I’ve been asked this question more than once. My reply: What religion is God?
You see, this is mysticism, a union with God. It is a “reunion” of your soul, a piece of God, when it recognizes itself as a piece of God. It is understanding that comes only from experience.
Some religions call this heaven, a far-off place where God exists, and where souls go when the body dies. Others speak of the Kingdom of God, which exists here and now, and is accessible to us while we are here on this earth.
Mystics speak of communing with God, knowing they are one with God and with all creation. That we are all beloved children of God and that we don’t need to go anywhere or do anything to participate in this union.
In the world of math and science, whether Bosonic String Theory, Super String Theory, or other theories of quantum mechanics, it is common scientific understanding that humans/souls exist in multiple dimensions. The third dimension is the physical body. The fourth dimension is your thoughts, which start to exist outside your body. The fifth dimension is your Higher Self, where you experience yourself as a Divine being. The Akashic Records exist in the fifth dimension. Ever higher dimensions are in the spiritual/divine realms that are inhabited by other aspects of the soul and spirit.
Cynthia Bourgeault, a modern-day mystic and Episcopal priest describes eight “Worlds” or levels of consciousness in her book Eye of the Heart: A Spiritual Journey Into The Imaginal Realm. Lower number worlds indicate higher consciousness and the higher number worlds indicate a dense and mechanical existence. The numbering system is reversed, but it’s a similar concept to quantum physics. And this book was derived from the work of Gurdjieff, the early twentieth-century spiritual master who has helped us understand the Enneagram and its transformational powers.
Some shamanic traditions define five different realms, arranged as concentric circles, that proceed as Physical, Subconscious, Force, Spirit, and Void. The Spirit realm is the broadest realm and contains many distinct layers. We live in the physical realm, and we visit the subconscious realm when we dream and have visions. The other realms can be visited when we consciously engage with them.
Do you see the pattern? Each of these examples are ways of explaining and participating in the mystery of God, Great Spirit, Divine Source, Creator. Different words, but strikingly similar concepts that help to explain our spiritual nature and the nature of God. These are each mystical experiences in the language of the modern world.
Okay, I know that’s a lot of difficult language, but I want you to understand that the experience is available to everyone who desires it. It’s not head knowledge that will move you forward. It’s experience of your own Divine nature that is transformational. We don’t have the words to fully explain these experiences, but they are accessible to everyone regardless of belief system, education, knowledge, or background. It’s available for you, just as you are.
