What’s the difference between Spiritual Direction and an Akashic Records reading? There are many similarities between the two disciplines, with just a few distinct differences.
Both disciplines involve tapping into the mystical, divine nature each of us embodies. We are each on a unique journey through this life and our journeys include both our physical actions and accomplishments, as well as our Spiritual or Soul journeys. Both Spiritual Direction and Akashic Records help to make sense of what’s happening in our life and where we are being called to.
Both involve looking or listening at a deeper level and mirroring back to the directee/client. When the information is mirrored back to the individual, it helps to illuminate the dark corners of their life and to reveal the shadow-self, the parts of our experiences, personalities, and tendencies that we often prefer to deny or hide. But our shadow-self is part of our true-self, our whole being, and wants to be fully integrated into the life we are here to live.
Neither Spiritual Direction nor an Akashic Records reading will change anything if the directee/client is not willing to make new choices. Spiritual Directors never tell a directee what to do, nor do they provide advice. Likewise, a reading in the Akashic Records is only a lookup of information. It is impossible to open someone’s Akashic Record if that is not their intention. With either discipline, an individual may begin to make new choices and have new experiences, or they may choose to become a victim, unable to change, and blaming others for their situation. Both Spiritual Direction and the Akashic Records recognize we are all individuals, each on a unique path, each with Free Will to decide whether we follow the path or jump off and sit along the side of the road.
Where Spiritual Direction is different from the Akashic Records is in the amount of information that is provided to the individual. In Spiritual Direction there are Spiritual Practices and tools such as the Enneagram, which allow individuals to change their consciousness and discover some information about themselves. It is often a trial-and-error approach to find the most effective Spiritual Practice for the directee. With an Akashic Records reading there is abundant information provided to the individual including Soul Energy Center, Soul Origin, how well the individual is living into their true self/Divine Nature, and blocks and restrictions that are limiting their human experience. An Akashic Records reading brings these soul characteristics to consciousness so the individual can begin to make positive choices that align with who they are created to be and begin to experience their own Divinity.
I have found that combining the two disciplines works very well, depending on what the directee/client desires and their unique path. Most directees I meet with have asked for basic information from their Akashic Records. The information provided often validates what the directee is feeling and often provides confidence to act on something the directee was hesitant about pursuing.
