Our soul does not require believing.
I frequently hear people use the word “believer,” or refer to a specific set of beliefs. Sometimes I ask how they define the word believer. It typically catches people by surprise and so far, I haven’t received a clear definition. Yet, I know that these people earnestly BELIEVE that there is a requirement to BELIEVE something. Some might rely on the one of the Christian creeds to define a believer. Others might define believers as those who claim Jesus Christ as their Savior. And even though there are endless variations of specific beliefs from person-to-person, many people still want to claim they are “believers.” Because BELIEVING in SOMETHING is necessary to save our souls. Right?
Our souls, however, don’t require BELIEVING. Our souls are a piece of God, gifted to us for all eternity. They do not need to believe anything specific. Beliefs do not change reality and they don’t change our souls. There is no “saving” something that is a part of God.
It is knowing.
Since the dawn of humanity, we have tried to understand and describe God. Humans have created rules, and practices. We have defined theology and we’ve developed belief systems. Churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, and other groups are communities defined by adherence to a specific set of beliefs and they define who is “inside” and who is “outside.” The rules for inclusion always focus on the rightness or righteousness of those who created the rules. Belief systems seek to proclaim one way that is the only right way, and then claim all God’s blessings for those on the inside.
But our souls already know God. A soul does not need to be right, because it is already right. Just by being, it is good and right. There are no right or wrong beliefs for a soul. There is only knowing. Knowing that it is good and right and perfect, just as it is.
There are no “bad” souls.
Souls are never bad, and they’re never wrong. But souls can be covered up, corrupted, and neglected. This is negative karma, and it is very sticky. When negative karma has accumulated on our soul, it causes us to make the same choices again and again. It covers up our true self so that we make negative choices, choices that do not align with our divine self, and we experience lack.
There is no one way to believe. There is no one right way.
Each of us is uniquely and divinely created, and we each have our own path. There is no set of beliefs or choices that universally applies to everyone. The only way to follow your “right” path is to discover your true self and to begin to make positive choices that align with your soul gifts.
